Fiction and Audiobooks

My new Podcast, Opera Vox Audiobooks is now well underway. I have now completed my reading of The Phantom of the Opera. Find the Podcast here – Opera Vox Audiobooks where you can also click on links to listen on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or many other podcast platforms. Please leave feedback and rate my podcast, this helps to get the word out to others who might enjoy hearing these classic books. Thanks for listening.

This section of my blog is devoted to fiction – reading, writing, and perhaps most important narrating.  I have received so many emails, comments and thank yous for my audiobook recordings that I have decided to devote more time to this endeavour.  Complete unabridged recordings of The Count of Monte Cristo by Dumas and the Sherlock Holmes canon can be found on Librivox.  David Clarke on Librivox

  1. Just finished listening to count of monte cristo. This 54 hour(!) book is the first audiobook I have ever been able to get through. Your voice is so calming and your reading is impeccable. It is obvious you put a lot of work into preparing and creating this recording- it’s truly impressive.
I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciated it. This book has been the only thing keeping me sane during this quarantine as I have been home alone with my 1 year old every day for the past month.

I have already read the Sherlock Holmes series (though crime mysteries aren’t really my preferred genre), but I will be first in line to download your next recording of one of the classics!!

    Thanks again

  2. Dear David,

I just want to thank you due to your remarkable audio book related to The Count Of Monte Christo. I just finished the audiobook. I Will forever remember the accent of Edmund Dante and after that of the Count himself! My daughters are now used to the expression “Your Excelence”!

Congratulations and thank you once more!

    Kindly regards,

    Pedro M. (from Portugal)

    1. Glad you enjoyed it – I have also recorded all the Sherlock Holmes books if you are interested – obrigado e fique saudável

  3. I just finished The Count of Monte Cristo. Thank you for sharing your gift with the world! I really enjoyed how you were able to read all of the characters with distinct accents and tones. This is my favorite book. I was grateful for the chance to listen to it.

People donate time and money to charities and worthwhile causes that they feel passionate about, but this I rank as a high quality gift to humanity. Of all the books you could have chosen to read, you chose to read this one which is over 50 hours of time not including the editing and script prep you had to do. Well done!
