Fiction and Audiobooks

I have now returned from our trip to Europe and have settled on a new and what I believe will be an exciting addition to my Opera Vox library of audiobooks.  For Season 5 Keep and eye out for notifications on your chosen podcast app as I begin to read ‘The Arabian Nights’ by Muhsin Mahdi.  This wonderful collection of stories within stories as part of an overarching plot is a new departure for me and I hope you enjoy it as much as I am going to enjoy narrating.

Thank you for your recording of the Count of Monte Cristo. The way you did the voices for the characters made it so much easier to understand. Your wonderful work made many drives a lot more entertaining!

I really enjoyed your LibriVox version of The Count of Monte Christo. I was surprised to see that your recording is now being sold on Audible by “Engage Books.” They seem to only sell LibriVox titles—with no mention of LibriVox. Hope this is with your permission and not someone just making a buck off of your amazing efforts. Regardless, thanks so much for the great readings!

Unfortunately I do not receive anything for it. I already had to put in quite an effort to have my Sherlock Holmes books taken off there. Audible don’t seem to care as long as they make money.

I’ve listened to all the Sherlock Holmes books narrated by you.
I’m not a native speaker, and discovering these recordings motivated me to read all the books—first reading a chapter or a story, then enjoying your amazing recording as the cherry on top.
I’ve learned so much vocabulary and enriched my range of expression.
Since then, I’ve been motivated to read more and more classic literature.
Thank you for all your effort.

It’s appalling that they don’t give credit but Librivox recordings are in the public domain so it is not illegal.

Ah – I didn’t think you had any recourse. I’d also read that they remove the lead-in for “this is a Librivox recording”. It’s all quite dastardly.

We miss you at OperaVox but understand your masterful quest and wish you the best. And, hope you will be returning with another offering someday!

  3. Wish you health and long and joyous life. Could express how much your I love your audiobooks. Thanks for being the voice that put me to sleep every night.
